Welcome to our friendly schools in the centre of Farnham. We hope you will take the time to look carefully through our career site to gain an insight and feel for our unique and inspirational schools.
You will be able to discover a school which develops a love of learning for life, through a fun, challenging and creative curriculum, where learning skills are at the core.
Our schools are a place where children are the centre of all that we do in order to allow them to grow into truly wonderful people, who make a difference.
In 2017 both schools became an academy school within the Good Shepherd Trust, a multi-academy trust sponsored by The Diocese of Guildford and since September 2017, our two schools have worked closely together thanks to the creation of a joint leadership and management team. At the 2019 Ofsted inspection, one of the visiting inspectors commented in passing that St Andrew’s and Potters Gate worked as one school on two sites. The children at St Andrew’s regularly visit Potters Gate for joint activities so that by the time they move on in Year 3, they already feel part of the extended “family .
Potters Gate C of E Primary School is a an academy in the Good Shepherd Trust. It was founded in 1896 and following an expansion programme in 2013 and 2020 currently caters for 480 children from reception through to year 6. We run two forms in Reception and KS1 and are part way through an expansion at KS2. We currently have three year 3 and 4 classes and we will roll out an addition KS2 class in September 2021 and 2022.
The school is situated in the centre of Farnham, enjoying a spacious site with a large field, playground and maintained gardens. The school also has a pre- and after-school Care Club. Following the new build, we have 18 spacious classrooms, a dedicated music/drama room, design suite, hall, and children’s kitchen, plus various break-out rooms and the Bubble Room providing a sensory room. We have a lovely, well stocked library. As a town centre school we make full use of the local environment including the Park, Castle, Town Centre and Bishop's Meadow.
At Potters Gate, children have the opportunity to form lifelong friendships and make an excellent start to their education. We are very proud of our school which offers an environment where staff, families and governors work together to ensure the best possible education for all our children.
As a Church school we have a distinctive character where Christian Values are promoted in all aspects of school life. We encourage all members of the school community to promote a Christian ethos where care and respect is shown to everyone. As a Church school there are strong links with St. Andrew's Church.
St. Andrew's children now feed straight into Potters Gate in Year 3.
St. Andrew’s C of E Infant School is a an academy in the Good Shepherd Trust. It was founded in 1860 and at present caters for up to 90 boys and girls between the ages of four and seven.
The school is situated in the centre of Farnham, in a peaceful, secluded corner overlooking St. Andrew's Church and the churchyard.
The school consists of three classrooms each with its own practical area. There is a hall which is used for P.E. lessons, assemblies, music and drama and school lunches which are made on site. We have two rooms designated for small group teaching as well as a mezzanine floor used as both another teaching room and the staffroom.
There is a well stocked library and each classroom has its own comfortable book area. The children are surrounded by books and are actively encouraged to develop a love of reading.
The playground is marked out for a variety of games to be used in P.E. lessons and at playtime.
We also have a play frame, trim trail and a range of games equipment for outside use. We have access to use the grounds at Potters Gate School for P.E. lessons and for forest school.
The school makes full use of its location in a rich varied environment and the Park, Castle, Town Centre, Space2Grow area and Bishop's Meadow are all within easy walking distance.
